Terms and Conditions of Use

Last updated: August 2025 Welcome to the Youth Empowerment online training platform (the “Platform”). The Platform is operated by Pinnock Consulting (Pincon) with the support of various funders. The Department of Basic Education (DBE) collaborates on selected courses and educational initiatives available on this Platform.
By registering, accessing, or using this Platform, you agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions of Use (“Terms”). Please read them carefully before proceeding.
1. Acceptance of Terms By creating an account or accessing any part of this platform, you confirm that you:
  • Are at least 13 years old.

  • If under 18, you have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use this Platform.

  • Are participating in education, youth empowerment, or skills development programmes available on this Platform.

  • Have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. Purpose of the Platform This platform is intended to:
  • Provide online training, career guidance, and resources for youth development.

  • Support skills tracking, wellbeing monitoring, and educational progress.

  • Support career planning

  • Offer selected courses developed or delivered in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education (DBE).

3. User Accounts and Responsibility You are responsible for:
  • Keeping your login details confidential

  • Ensuring the information you provide is accurate and up to date

  • Use the Platform responsibly, lawfully, and only for its intended educational purpose.

  • Notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Protection of Personal Information (POPIA and GDPR Compliance)
We are committed to protecting your privacy in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). By using this platform, you consent to the collection, storage, and limited use of your personal information for the following purposes:
  • Reporting and data analysis for relevant programme funders/donors.

  • Monitoring participation, progress, skills development, and impact.

  • Improving the design and delivery of youth education and support services

Some courses may involve collaboration with the DBE; in such cases, data may be shared with DBE solely for training and reporting purposes.
Your data will not be sold, rented, or shared with third parties beyond:
  • The DBE (as implementing partner)

  • Official programme funders or donors

  • Service providers working under confidentiality agreements strictly for the purposes listed above

You have the right to:
  • Access and request correction or deletion of your personal data.

  • Withdraw consent for non-essential data processing.

5. Communications, Notifications, and Marketing By signing up:
  • You agree to receive emails, notifications, or in-platform alerts about platform features, deadlines, surveys, available resources and youth-related opportunities.

  • You may see promotional messages or educational benefits related to careers, digital tools, scholarships, or learning opportunities relevant to the education sector.

  • These will always be relevant, educational, and appropriate for youth participants and educators

  • Communication channels (e.g., forums, chat rooms) may allow you to interact with other users. By using these, you agree to respectful communication and understand that messages may be moderated for safety.

We will never display random third-party advertisements or unrelated commercial ads.
6. Use of Content and Certificates
  • All learning materials, videos, quizzes, and documents are for your personal development use only

  • Certificates earned on the Platform may be verified by programme funders or, where applicable, by the DBE for courses they co-develop or support.

  • You may not copy, distribute, or sell any materials unless given written permission

7. Prohibited Activities
You agree not to:
  • Post, upload, or share any unlawful, harmful, or inappropriate content.

  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users.

  • Upload viruses, malware, or engage in any action that may damage or disrupt the Platform.

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users’ accounts or Platform systems.

8. Platform Access and Availability
  • You can download content and access it offline through our mobile-friendly platform

  • The platform may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or updates; we will provide notice where possible

  • We strive to keep the Platform accessible but may occasionally suspend access for updates or maintenance.

  • Access may be limited in cases of technical issues beyond our control.

9. Termination of Access
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the platform if:
  • You violate these terms

  • You misuse the platform or disrupt learning or learning experience for others

10. Liability Disclaimer
  • Training content is provided “as is” for educational purposes only.

  • We make no warranties on uninterrupted access or complete accuracy of materials.

  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, damages, or injuries resulting from the use of this Platform.

11. Copyright and Intellectual Property
  • All Platform content is owned by Pinnock Consulting or licensed partners.

  • Trademarks, logos, and materials may not be used without prior written permission.

12. Minors and Parental Consent
  • If you are under 18, your use of the Platform signifies that you have parental or guardian consent.

  • Parents/guardians may request access to view or manage their child’s account information.

13. Updates to Terms We may update these terms from time to time. A notice will be provided on the platform when changes are made. Continued use after updates implies acceptance.
