Youth Empowerment South Africa (YEMSA) is a digital learning and development platform open to all South Africans aged 18 and over who are looking to build their skills, boost their confidence, and grow their future. It offers:
• Free and paid online courses in education, life skills, digital tools, and job readiness
• Career guidance and entrepreneurship support
• Wellness check-ins and a personal progress tracker
• A membership option for unlimited access to all courses
• Learn at your own pace, on most devices, anytime, anywhere.
• Free: The National School Safety Framework (NSSF) course is 100% free and compulsory (DBE requirement).
• Pay-as-you-go: Most other courses cost between R25–R40 each.
• R120 Membership: Unlock all courses, certificates, and features for 12 months.

Each course includes:
• Short videos
• Step-by-step lessons

• Certificates on completion
Most courses take 30–60 minutes to complete. Some may be shorter or longer depending on the topic.
No. You can do courses in any order, depending on your needs. However, some career pathways may recommend a sequence.
• You earn a certificate when you complete a course with a passing grade (usually 70% or higher).
• Certificates are automatically added to your profile.
• You can download them as PDF files to share with employers or on social media.
No. Certificates are not emailed.
To access them:
• Log in
• Go to Profile > Certificates
• Click “Download Certificate”
You can get your certificate in two ways:
After finishing a course and passing the quiz, click the “Download Certificate” button that appears.
OR go to your dropdown menu > “Certificates” and download any past certificates.
Certificates are auto-generated based on your registration name.
If your name is wrong:
Go to “My Profile”
Update your first and last name
Re-download your certificate: it should now reflect the change
Certificates open in a new browser tab. If you’re having trouble:
• Make sure your browser’s popup blocker is disabled
• Try a different browser (like Chrome or Firefox)
• Ensure your phone or laptop has enough storage
